Mario Chalmers had 22 of his 29 points after the third quarter for the Heat, including five in the third overtime. Wade missed his second straight game with a sore left foot and James was held out after he turned his left ankle late in the third quarter of Wednesday night's 118-83 win over Indiana. An American concert promoter is lucky to be alive after being kidnapped at gunpoint in the Republic of Angola, because Nas failed to show for a concert there.

According to TMZ, Nas and opening act Jemiah Jai were paid $315,000 to perform two shows on New Year's Eve, but both failed to board their flights in time to perform at the scheduled events.

In an attempt to regain his money, local "concert impresario" Henrique 'Riquhino' Miguel sent armed men to kidnap AllGood Entertainment CEO Patrick Allocco and his son to prevent them from leaving the country. The pair were then handed over to local authorities who interrogated them for seven hours before the U.S. Embassy there stepped in to get them released.

A rep for the U.S. Embassy confirmed to TMZ that Alloco and his son were "in residence" at a local hotel until the dispute could be worked out.

Alloco's rep released the following statement:

"The hope is that Nas and Jemiah Jai will return all of the monies that were wired to them immediately so that our ransom may be paid and our safe return to the United States may be facilitated."

So far neither Nas or Jemiah have responded.

**UPDATE**

Nas' reps have reached out to TMZ to explain their side of the story and to let everyone know they will cut the check to get American promoter Patrick Allocco back home safely.

The rapper's team said he did plan on performing in Angola on New Year's Eve, but a miscommunication about the travel plans derailed the performance. According to Nas' reps he never intended to keep the money, but isn't sure where to send the check back to. A solution is reportedly being worked on.

"The key is getting Patrick Allocco home safely," said a source.

It was the contemporary incarnation of the legendary Motown Records label, and the "urban" half of UMRG, although there was some rock artists on the label (along with its sub-labels) as well.

Changes were made at Universal Motown Republic Group, and Motown Records was separated from Universal Motown Records (causing it to shut down and transfer it's artists to either Motown Records or Universal Republic Records) and the umbrella label and merged into the The Island Def Jam Music Group (now named The Island Def Jam Motown Music Group), making Universal Republic Records a stand alone label and shutting down Universal Motown Republic Group.

J Records was an American record label, owned and operated by Sony Music Entertainment, and was distributed through the RCA Music Group.

J Records was founded in 2000 by industry veteran Clive Davis with $150 million in financing from BMG, after his ousting from Arista Records the same year, and initially operated as an independently managed company distributed through BMG.

Olivia was the first artist to sign to J Records, but was later dropped due to poor album sales. In 2001, the label found success with its multi-platinum record inaugural release, Songs in A Minor, the debut album of Alicia Keys, which sold over 12 million copies worldwide. The same year, the label had another success with the platinum-selling debut album by O-Town. Later, established artists like D'Angelo, Luther Vandross, Jamie Foxx, and Monica would join the J roster, the latter three going on to find multi-platinum success with the label.

During the summer of 2011, RCA Music Group underwent a restructuring which shuttered J along with sister labels Jive and Arista on October 7, 2011. RCA Records will now start releasing all RCA Music Group releases under RCA Records.

Artists affected by the dissolution of J Records included:

Alicia Keys, BC Jean, CJ Hilton, D'Angelo, Elle Varner, Fantasia, Jamie Foxx, Jazmine Sullivan, Krista, Leona Lewis, Mario, Marsha Ambrosius, Mike Posner, Monica, Pitbull, Rod Stewart and Yung Joc.

XXLMag.com has learned that the Oscar-nominated-rapper-turned-actor has logged in studio time with his longtime friend and collaborator, DJ Jazzy Jeff.

“He came down like two weeks ago and was like, ‘Yo, I wanna get back into the studio, and we just knocked out some stuff,” Jeff told XXL. “I just think more than anything there is no set pattern, no set plan, but we just wanna go into the studio and see what we come out with. If I can get it back to the way we used to make music, you know, it used to be just me and him in the room. You don’t need no entourages and cameras and all of that and see what happens. He hasn’t decided exactly what he wants to do.”

Though Smith hasn’t released music since 2005′s Lost & Found, Jeff assures that the Fresh Prince still has hip-hop in mind.

“Will has never not wanted to do music,” Jeff shared. “When you’re pretty much the biggest movie star in the world, the movie people don’t want you to do music ’cause you ain’t making $50 million off of making music. From a financial perspective, movies is where it’s at. And it’s not like his heart is not in the movies, but he’s always wanted to do some level of music.”
