The new Xbox will be called Xbox 1. The system has a sleeker new console, a new controller and a new Kinect system. The Xbox 1 is also voice-operated and can be turned on by simply saying "Xbox on."

It takes you to a "personal home screen" and you don't have to sit and wait for game updates.

You're able to watch live Television, watch movies and surf the internet on the Xbox 1. You can switch seamlessly via voice control from Television, to games, to music, all centered on the Xbox 1.

It's a cloud-based machine sporting an improved Kinect camera, along with a re-designed controller with a new d-pad and integrated battery compartment. The console itself has a Blu-ray drive, 500 GB of internal storage and an eight-core x86 CPU paired with 8 GB of system memory. In many ways, it's similar to the make-up of the PS4.

Microsoft has announced that the live Television features coming to its newly revealed Xbox One will first be available in North America and then, will then transition into other regions after that. In a press release from the company, Microsoft noted that "live TV with Kinect Navigation, live TV with OneGuide, Trending and NFL on Xbox" will all roll out in the US "at launch," but was "anticipating global scale over time."

Microsoft also said that the Xbox One will require a separate cable box, specifying "at launch," so it's possible that the console maker has other plans to deliver television content. The Xbox One is set for release later on this year and Microsoft has not yet revealed a price.

Dr. Dre and Interscope Geffen A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine Donating $70 million [RadioRymatica.com]

Aftermath CEO Dr. Dre and Interscope Geffen A&M chairman Jimmy Iovine are giving $70 million to the University of Southern California. The gift will create the USC Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation.

The academy will focus on arts and entrepreneurship; technology, design and marketability; concept and business platforms and creating a prototype.

Students will be able to interact with guest speakers and lecturers from the arts and entertainment field and have one-on-one faculty mentoring from USC's schools of business, fine arts, engineering and music.

Twenty-Five students will enroll in the academy in the fall of 2014. Additional applicants will be chosen by "a rigorous review process" based on academic achievement and the "proven ability for original thought," according to Rolling Stone.

"The vision and generosity of Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young will profoundly influence the way all of us perceive and experience artistic media," university President C. L. Max Nikias said. "USC provides an extraordinarily rich academic, research and artistic environment. We are committed to encouraging our students to use their intellectual and creative resources to effect change in all segments of society. Our goal is to ensure that the academy is the most collaborative educational program in the world."

Part of the donations will go to financially supporting disadvantaged students to “go on to do something that could potentially change the world,” Dre said.

Under the guise of cyber-security, CISPA (the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act) is a bill that would grant corporations the power to share our emails, Facebook messages, and other sensitive online data with the government - all without a warrant. 

CISPA would kill online privacy as we know it - nullifying the laws that require big corporations to keep our information private from government agencies like the National Security Agency. Those corporations wouldn't have to notify you that they have done this and you wouldn't be able to take legal action against them if they made a mistake when sharing your information. 

While strong information security is critical to privacy and civil liberties, CISPA does almost nothing to prevent this. All it does is give the government access to your information. 

We beat CISPA last year when hundreds of thousands of Americans signed online petitions to let lawmakers know that our online privacy rights are not negotiable. But this bill is back and politicians who want the government to be able to read your emails and see what you purchase online are hoping you won’t speak out this time.
